The ancient port city of Chittagong (officially Chattogram), is one of the world's oldest natural harbours. The city found mention on Roman geographer Ptolemy's revolutionary world map in the 2nd century CE as one of the most impressive ports in the East. It is today the most critical maritime gateway to Bangladesh and a strategically crucial military port on the Bay of Bengal. Chittagong/Chattogram is the capital of Chittagong Division.

This small sliver of land in Bangladesh's south-eastern corner lies on the banks of the River Karnaphuli between the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the Bay of Bengal. Over a dozen ethnic indigenous groups live in the historic region, sharing it, calling it home.

The Chittagong Division is a beautiful repository of rich and varied biodiversity, seen in its abundant flowering plants, lush hills and tropical jungles resplendent with waterfalls, gushing river streams, and beautiful elephant reserves.

St. Martin's Island is the only coral island in Bangladesh while Cox's Bazar harbours one of the world's longest natural beaches. The country's tallest peaks are to be found in the three hill districts of Bandarban, Rangamati, and Khagrachari.
