Pieter Elbers is a seasoned airline business leader with over 30 years of aviation experience. As CEO of IndiGo since September 2022, Pieter is building the next stage of the incredible IndiGo journey, further fulfilling its purpose of Giving wings to the nation, by connecting people and aspirations and executing the strategy of bringing IndiGo ‘Towards new heights and Across new frontiers’.
Pieter’s foundation and experience were formed in his impressive 30-year career at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Prior to joining IndiGo, he was the President & Chief Executive Officer of KLM for 8 years. He started his career at KLM in 1992 as Manager Aircraft loading. During his tenure at KLM, he held various key executive positions in The Netherlands, Japan, Greece, and Italy. In 2011 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, and to President & CEO in 2014. During this time, he was also an executive of the AIR FRANCE-KLM Group.
Pieter has a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management and a master’s degree in Business Economics, and has completed various executive programs at IMD, Lausanne and Columbia University, New York. Pieter also serves on the IATA Board of Governors and has been elected as the Chair since June 2024.
Isidre Porqueras Orea is from Barcelona, Spain, where he completed his PhD in Physics and MBA from IESE Business School. Isidre has around 25 years of experience spanning across diverse organisations like McKinsey (UK), URSA Insulation, and Uralita. In his last assignment, he was the Chief Operating Officer at Volotea, one of the fastest-growing independent airlines in Europe. Before that, he was the Chief of Costs & Operational Performance at Volotea.
RK Singh is an LLM in Aviation Law from Leiden University, The Netherlands and holds MBA degree from Southern Cross University, Australia.
Singh has over 36 years of experience working in different capacities; Firstly, in the Indian Government as an IAS officer (1985 to 2009) and later as an Aviation Law/Management specialist. He has served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and has been the CMD of Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited. He has also served on the Boards of Air India, Indian Airlines, Alliance Air, and Air India Charters Limited (Air India Express) in the past.
Presently, he serves on the International Board of the Institute of Airlines and Space Law (IIASL) of Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Gaurav has more than two decades of diverse exposure in the field of Finance, Corporate Governance and Business Operations. A Chartered Accountant and certified Six Sigma Blackbelt, he has held senior management responsibilities across various industries and worked in multiple countries.
Prior to joining IndiGo, Gaurav spent twenty-two years with General Electric Company, where he was part of their Global Leadership programs in Finance and Executive management. In his last role with GE, Gaurav was the CFO for GE Renewable Onshore Wind covering Asia Pacific Region. Prior to that he held the position of Whole Time Director & CFO of GE T&D India, a Public Listed Company in Transmission & Distribution, where he was a member of the Board and various committees of Audit, Risk Management, Stakeholder Relationship and CSR. Gaurav has also been the CFO for GE Healthcare and GE NBCU, both Joint Ventures, with Wipro and NDTV, respectively. Gaurav was part of GE Corporate Global Leadership program in Finance and Corporate Audit Staff and started his career with GE Capital in CT, USA.
Gaurav is a Commerce graduate from Hindu College, Delhi University, and a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Saguna has almost 30 years of experience, and has held senior leadership positions in a number of global organizations, providing strategic legal advice on commercial transactions, corporate governance and regulatory compliances.
Her last assignment was as the Director & Head of Legal and Compliance at Nokia for the India and APJ region where she has been a Director on the board of Nokia India and a key member of the CSR Committee. Prior to Nokia, she was Vice President and General Counsel, Asia at Genpact for over a decade during which time she also supported GE Aviation’s operations. She has also worked with leading law firms in India and Middle East, where her experience includes advising leading domestic airlines.
Saguna is a Philosophy (Honors) graduate from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi; a law graduate from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and received a British Chevening Scholarship for advanced legal studies at the College of Law, York University.
In a career spanning 27 years, Sukhjit S Pasricha has been in leadership positions across sectors and in complex businesses that operate in both B2B and B2C spaces. He has been instrumental in building business-aligned HR strategies, driving HR transformational projects and strengthening organizational capabilities through formulation & implementation of HR processes and ensuring proactive HR interventions.
In his previous stint at IndiGo as Senior Vice President – HR, his contributions in terms of innovative and new age peoples' practices made IndiGo scalable for growth besides being a talent magnet. As an IndiGo alumnus, he remained a 6E Ambassador. Prior to rejoining IndiGo in 2022, Sukhjit worked with Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj FinServ as Group CHRO & Chief of HR & Admin respectively. He has also been associated with Bharti Airtel International (Netherland) B.V. as their Sr. Vice President – HR (Airtel Africa). In this role, he was responsible for driving the HR transformation across 17 countries. Additionally, he was Head-HR / HR Business Partner for nine Anglophone countries. He has been in leadership roles at PepsiCo and Spice Communications too.
Neetan comes with a three-decade track record of delivering business value and transformation using technology and innovation. He has been recognized by the Silicon Valley’s Constellation Research into BT150 (Business Transformation 150), which is a global elite list of top executives leading innovative business transformation efforts. He has been on the Board of multiple technology start-ups and VCs, helping bring digital advisory to entrepreneurship.
His last assignment was with Dubai Holding (DH) as Group Chief Technology Officer where he led digital transformation, analytics and technology outcomes for the overall Group and co-created new digital business models. Neetan started his career at Accenture Consulting in India in early 1992, then moved to the UAE and joined Emirates in the year 1995 as Senior IT Manager. From thereon, he steadily grew with Emirates into the SVP IT and Innovation role, before leaving them in 2018 and joining Dubai Holding as their Group CTO.
Neetan is a Physics (Honors) graduate from Delhi University and a post graduate in computer applications (MCA) from NIT, Trichy.
Abhijit DasGupta is an experienced veteran in the aviation industry with professional experience of over 20 years. He has functional expertise in Long Term Network and Fleet Strategy, Network Planning and Analysis, Schedule Management, Airline Partnerships and Strategic Regulatory Affairs.
Prior to joining IndiGo, Abhijit spent close to 17 years with Jet Airways where he was the Vice President of Planning and led the Planning and Partnership portfolios. He project-managed Jet Airways’ international expansion since its inception in 2004 and was responsible for key partnership driven network expansion projects in Singapore, Brussels, Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam and Paris.
Abhijit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University and Post Graduate degree in Management as a member of the founding batch of Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Vinay’s professional career spans across a diverse 30 years of experience in the travel industry, where he served as the Regional Group Chief Operating Officer - South Asia, Middle East & North Africa and the Americas - at VFS Global, and was a member of the organisation’s Executive Board. During his Dubai-based role, he was responsible for managing the core visa business in these regions, as well as strengthening allied travel-related B2C services, globally.
Prior to his role at VFS Global, in 2013, Vinay had a 10-year successful stint at Emirates, before which, he played instrumental roles at Swissair, and Galileo, subsequently. He has also been an aircraft load-controller, with wide aviation experience which included managing passenger sales, ticket offices, airport operations, as well as cargo operations.
A commerce graduate (with Honours) from Delhi University, India, Vinay also holds an MBA degree, with merit, from Bradford University, UK.
Neerja is a Corporate Governance Professional with over 30 years of experience. Before joining IndiGo, she was the Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer at Hero MotoCorp Ltd. where she was responsible for the corporate secretarial function, driving corporate governance and compliance. She was also a key member of the ethics committee, member of the steering committee for driving sustainability, and chairperson of the committee for prevention of sexual harassment. Prior to this, she has held leadership positions such as Secretary and Director-Secretarial Affairs at Fortis Healthcare (India) Ltd., Secretary and Vice President of Ballarpur Industries Ltd., and Secretary and Director-Assurance & Communication at Cairn India Ltd. where she had been instrumental in advising and guiding the leadership team and the Board on various strategic issues related to corporate governance and compliance.
Peer Mohamed is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst by profession. He joined IndiGo prior to the commencement of our commercial operations, as the Chief Financial Officer and held the position for 8 years before taking up his current role with us.
Riyaz PeerMohamed holds a bachelor’s degree in science from University of Bombay. He is a Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Chartered Financial Analyst from The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. He has completed his management education program from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Previously, PeerMohamed was with Emirates in Dubai and joined them in November 1989 where he held various positions. His last held position for Emirates was Senior Vice President – Corporate Treasury which he held from August 2001 until May 2006, before joining IndiGo.
Capt. Ashim Mittra has over 20,000 hours of flying and flies as a DGCA Designated Examiner on the Airbus 320. He has been an integral part of IndiGo ever since its inception in 2006.
He started his aviation career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with Indian Airlines 37 years ago. In 1981, he qualified to become an Airbus 300 Flight Engineer and logged approximately 5000 hrs. as flight engineer, over almost 7 years.
Thereafter, he acquired a Commercial Pilot’s License from the US and from 1987 to 1994 he flew the Boeing 737-200 and A320 planes with Indian Airlines. He went on to gain international exposure and worked with pilots from different cultures and nationalities while flying for Air Lanka from 1994 to 1997. Subsequently, Capt. Ashim Mittra flew with Alliance Air, Air Sahara, and Air India Express as Captain on the 737-200/700/800NG. He was a Check Pilot on the Boeing 737-200 with Alliance Air until he joined IndiGo.
Sanjeev Ramdas is an airline veteran and has headed airport operations for many years. He has been with IndiGo ever since its inception in 2006.
Sanjeev Ramdas holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from University of Delhi and a post graduate diploma in personnel management and industrial relations from YMCA Institute of Management Studies.
Ramdas worked for Cambata Aviation Private Limited from 1989 till 1994 as Duty Officer and was in charge of aircraft handling, passenger services and charter flights. Prior to joining IndiGo, he joined InterGlobe Air Transport Limited and was the Director of Airport Services from 1994 till 2006 where he managed the Airport Operations for InterGlobe Air Transport Limited’s airline partners and was responsible for Airport Operations, Customer Services, Emergency Response Procedures and Safety.
A third-generation aviation veteran with over 25 years of professional experience, Parichay Datta is a DGCA-licensed engineer with expertise across various aircraft and engine types.
He has expertise in Engineering Operations and led IndiGo Engineering's line maintenance functions for many years before moving into a broader role overseeing Engineering and Maintenance.
He has been with IndiGo since its inception and was among the first batch of engineers recruited into IndiGo Engineering. Previously, his experience includes roles in aircraft engineering functions at Air Sahara and Alliance Air, focusing on line maintenance and quality control.
Parichay completed his schooling at The Air Force Bal Bharati School, followed by further training at The School of Aviation Science and Technology to prepare for a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
Saba Zaidi is a seasoned aviation professional with over 27 years of experience, she brings a wealth of expertise in driving operational excellence, effective team management and enhancing service delivery across larger teams. She has been an integral part of IndiGo since 2013 and elevated to the role of Vice President - Inflight Services in 2024, bringing in years of experience in airport operations, ground handling, customer services and managing larger teams.
During her progressive journey at IndiGo, Saba has held several key leadership positions, including AVP and Regional Head roles for the North and West regions of India. As Head of Airport Operations and Customer Services at Delhi airport, she played a pivotal role in strengthening operations, nurturing talent, enhancing customer experience, and developing a larger pool of leaders to support IndiGo's rapid growth and expansion in ground operations.
Prior to joining IndiGo, she served as the Head of Department - Passenger Services at Celebi Ground Handling Delhi Pvt. Ltd. She began her aviation career with Jet Airways, where she spent 13 years progressing from customer services to core operations.
Mark Sutch has over 25 years of experience in the airline business across numerous geographies and verticals.
Before joining IndiGo, Mark had a 25-year career with Cathay Pacific Airways that included leading the commercial side of the airline’s cargo division. Mark was also Country Head for the airline group in France, The Philippines, and Sri Lanka. During his tenure, he held management positions in Revenue Management as well as Flight Operations, based in Hong Kong. Most recently Mark was the Regional VP for Cathay Pacific in South Asia, Middle East, and Africa based in Mumbai. Between his career at Cathay Pacific and joining IndiGo, Mark was Chief Commercial Officer for the start-up airline CMA CGM Air Cargo, based in Marseille, France.
Mark holds a Batchelor's Degree in Chinese & Management Studies from Durham University in the UK and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, France.
Summi Sharma is a seasoned aviation professional with over 25 years in the industry, ranging from Operations, Learning and Development and Customer Experience.
Summi has been an instrumental part of the team over last 15 years and was part of the launch crew for IndiGo in May 2006. In her early days, she was head of all safety and emergency training programs and eventually moved up to lead ‘ifly’ – IndiGo’s learning academy – a place where the spirit of IndiGo is created
In her pursuit of perpetual learning, Sharma graduated from the Stanford School of Business in 2014 as a part of the Executive Program for Women Leaders. In her current role, she leads ifly and Customer Experience. She is accountable for overall skill and leadership development for all employees at IndiGo. She is known for always looking at the organisation outside-in, through the eyes of the customer. Her mandate to make each customer touch point as hassle-free as possible.
Rahul Bhatia is the Group Managing Director of InterGlobe Enterprises. He is also the Promoter and Managing Director of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo), India's largest airline. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
Rahul established InterGlobe in 1989 with its flagship business of Air Transport Management. With experience of over three decades in the travel industry, it is under his stewardship that InterGlobe has diversified its portfolio, which now includes Aviation (IndiGo), Hospitality, Logistics, Technology, Airline Management, Advanced Pilot Training and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
In 2011, Rahul was recognized as the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Ernst & Young and also by The Economic Times. In the same year, he received ‘The Outstanding Start-Up’ award at the Forbes India Leadership Awards as well. In 2016, he was featured on the Forbes ‘Global Game Changers’ list.
